Reading Intervention Teacher

Welcome to the reading intervention website.

One of the reading intervention programs at Magothy River Middle School is called Corrective Reading. This particular reading program focuses on decoding and comprehension. The lesson components of Corrective Reading are: word attack, story reading with checkouts and workbook activities. The reading program builds competency, leaves no child behind, provides strong, positive reinforcement, and focuses on mastery. Mastery of the program means that only a small amount of new material is taught in each lesson, the material taught is carefully sequenced and previously taught material is reviewed.  

Soar To Success, another  reading program has been added to our classes. This intervention program is designed to accelerate learning for students who are experiencing problems in reading. This reading model uses graphic organizers and reciprocal teaching methods to help students construct meaning from their texts.

I am excited to begin another year as the reading intervention teacher. I have taken on the task of helping your child become a better reader. More importantly, it will be with my personal approach that your child will enjoy reading.
