Hello everybody!
My name is Ms. Zamora and I will be your third grade teacher this year. This will be my third year as a teacher, but I've been involved with Oakland Terrace for the past five years. I love this school and it's community. I love it so much that I'm even looking into buying a house nearby. (Maybe we could be neighbors)
I was born in Mexico City and have lived in Maryland for the past 9 years. I attended Montgomery College where I received an Associate in Arts and Teaching, and graduated from Towson University with a Bachelors Degree of Science in General and Special Education.

I hope you all read and practiced your basic math facts during the summer, because now we are going to get down and dirty and apply all of the things you learned in second grade to a bit more complicated situations:

In language arts we will be exploring different genres of literature, and we will use these to help us improve our personal, persuasive and informative writing.

In math we will explore many more mathematical concepts such as measurement, multiplication & division, geometry, very simple algebra, problem solving, and data analysis.
Science in third grade is extremely fun. We will start the year off by learning about the life cycle of a seed, and the parts of a plant. Then, we will learn how police officers and federal investigators find bad guys through the use of chromatography. Finally, we will end the year by exploring the different elements of sound.

During social studies we will learn about geographic and physical characteristics, and how we as a society uses our human and natural resources. We will also investigate cities of the present and the past, and how they have changed over time.
So as you can see we have a very big year ahead of us. So lets get straight to it. I guarantee that we will work hard, but don't worry; I promise we will have lots of fun as well.
