Classroom Mission in Language Arts

It is my mission to challenge the students in the areas of literature, writing, and grammar. With these components of language arts, it is my intent that the students learn respect, responsibility and use critical thinking and problem solving skills.

In the first quarter of language arts, the students will use a variety of strategies to understand what they read. They will analyze the conflict and events of the plot. They will also analyze the details that provide information about the setting, mood created by the setting, and ways in which the setting affects characters.

In writing, the students will compose a descriptive essay. They will compose the essay using the writing process. Signal words will be used within and between paragraphs. After peer review of the writing draft, the student will prepare the final product for presentation to an audience.

In social studies the students will be studying Contempory World Culture. The study units for 7th grade social studies are: Foundations of Geography

Asia

In this course, students develop their ability to read text, charts, maps, graphs. They also will write to inform as well as persuade.
