The seventh grade at Magothy River Middle School is helping to free a  family from poverty.  The family lives in the African country of Ghana. 

Students are collecting used athletic shoes to support the project.  We hope to exceed last  year's collection of 500 pairs of shoes.  ( If we collect enough pairs of soccer shoes, the village can have a team called the "Magothy Soccer Team".)

Look at what we can provide for a family:

• 50 pairs .......1 bicycle
• 100 pairs......1 rabbit and hutch
• 150 pairs......10 assorted fruit trees
• 200 pairs......3 hens and one cock
• 250 pairs......100 Lucaena trees
• 300 pairs......1 colonized bee hive
• 350 pairs......50 innoculated starter bags of mushrooms
• 400 pairs......water well installed
• 500 pairs.....1/4 acre integrated vegetable farm.  Training in organic farming.
