Combining Effort, Integrity and Resilience

Into A Leadership Project

 

 

In order to fulfill class requirements, all leadership students must complete a Leadership Project.  The Leadership Project will include both a written and a presentation component. 

 

Students will choose a topic based on their leadership class project. If a student has difficulty coming up with a topic, possibilities should be discussed with his/her Leadership Advisor.

 

Written Component:

Using their chosen topic, leaderships must develop a written paper.

 

Title Page-doesn’t count as a page

1.      Every day that you have leadership class, you should be working on your leadership project. (20 days) Each day between December 1st and January 9th, you should write one paragraph and keep it in a separate journal log that will be included in your project.-Due January 12th

2.     (One page-500 words)Letter to yourself explaining what your project is going to be about and addressing the ten components to the project. How and when you plan to work on the project and how you plan to meet the deadlines-2 copies-one to me and one to keep to your project. (Due December 3rd    2 copies-one to me and one to keep to your project)

3.     Write a one page autobiography about your life up until August of 2003. Who you are, where you have lived, what you have done, when have you been able to show your strengths, and how you have become the great person that you are(and you all are great people.(1 page 500 words-Due December 5th   2 copies-one to me and one to keep to your project )

4.      Write a one page essay (500 words)describing 5 of your strengths, qualities, or what you are most proud of about yourself. This should be one paragraph per quality. 2 copies one for me and one for the project Due December 10th

      5.     Write a one page essay describing what you have learned in or out of leadership class about leadership. Who or what did you learn this from. It may be a person, a book, a movie, or a personal thought or experience. 2 copies one for me and one for the project. Due December 12th.

 

           6. Write a one page(500 word) essay explaining your class project(MAP-Maryland HS Leadership Conference, etc. Research the background of other projects at other schools or in other communities. What have other schools done and what have other organizations done. *You must have three noted resources for this page..2 copies one for me and one for your project. Due December 16th

7. Goal of Project Write a one page essay ( 500 words)explaining the following:

What were the 5 goals of the class project.? What were the steps to achieve this goal? Have you met those goals? How were the class project goals accomplished, including important resources used, any problems encountered, problems solved. Finally the student should address these questions: What did you learn about yourself by doing the project? What did you learn about others?  Why might you recommend doing leadership projects to other students? One copy for the teacher one for the project(Due December 18th)

 

8. A one page narrative where you summarize the creation and implementation of data analysis of your project. How do you measure success with data regarding your project. You can conduct a survey or examine specific data from sources. One copy for me and one for your project due-(January 5th.)

 

9.    A one page essay (500) words where you come up with something extraordinary. It can either be a great idea for a new project or a great way to make this better. It can be a great idea about a class activity. Make it your own and make it brilliant. You can do it…Due January 7th

 

10. 40 note cards for your oral presentation. (Each component is required to have 4 note cards as you prepare for your presentation Due January 9th.

 

Students must give an oral presentation. One minute for each of the component. 10 minutes.  Use your note cards, as a guide. 

 

?Presentations must be well prepared and practiced.  Simply reading from the note cards is not acceptable.  Students must know their material and engage their audience.?

 

 

Final written project is due January 12th, 2004

 

Students must be prepared to give presentations on January 12th, 2004.
