US History Book Report-Mr. Engel
Students will
This book report has ten sections including the Title Page, Table of Contents and Reading Log. Each section should be on a separate piece of paper with each question clearly labeled. This paper is due Tuesday December 7th.
The students should be are aware that a book report with less than the required amount will not be accepted. The book report needs to be neat and presentable. It should be typed, double spaced and between 12-14 font.
Format
1-Title Page
2-Table of Contents-1 page
3-Summary of Book-1 page
a-You are asked to review your book for a magazine. Summarize the book (at least one full page). Create a rating system of your own (example: 1 = terrible book, 10 = two thumbs up) and give the book a rating. Explain your rating system and at least three reasons for your rating. For example, what did you like about your book and what didn’t you like?
4-Historical leader study-Please answer the following questions-1 page
a.. Which person in your book did you identify with?.
b. People usually have good and bad qualities. In your book and make a list of their good qualities and a list of their bad qualities. Please list these qualities in a chart form.
C.. Did the person you chose do something outstanding?
5-Visual Study-2 visuals
a. Draw a map of an area in which your book takes place. Make sure your map has a legend and various markings of important places in the book.
b. Design a new cover for your book, illustrating what the book is about, showing the title, author and genre of book. Please use a blank sheet of paper. Do not use lined paper.
6.-1 page
a. Suggest a different title for each chapter in the book. If the book does not have chapter titles, make up titles for each chapter.
b. Make a chart(half page) showing the 5-7 main ideas in your book. Label your chart clearly and neatly.
7: Extending the Book-half page
a. Choose someone that is mentioned in the book that you would like to learn more about? Make a list of 10 questions you would like to learn more about. .
b. What other books has the author of your book written?
8- Word Study and Development-half page
a. Copy a sentence from the book (page and quotation marks) that reminds you of yourself. b. A glossary is useful to a person reading a book because it explains the meanings of high level words. Find at least 15 high level words in your book and make a glossary of these words. Look each word up in the dictionary and copy the meaning of each word.
9- Personal Response-1 page
a. Sometimes events in the book make you feel various emotions such as anger, happiness or sorrow. c. Is this book similar to another book you have read?
10-Reading Log-2 pages
Use attached table as your reading log. When it is completed, attach it to the rest of your book report.
