Course Description:
The principal goal of this course is to create self-expression. Short readings based on cultural topics will be addressed in each unit in conjunction with the exercises in grammatical structures, vocabulary building, speaking and writing assignments in order to develop proficiency.
Course Goals/Objectives:
At the end of the year, a student in this course should be able to:
- obtain information from written and oral sources.
- communicate with the users of target language in a variety of situations.
- express views and feelings concerning certain issues.
- demonstrate accuracy and variety in their use of spoken and written language.
- respond to a variety of situations in target language (i.e. reading articles, written compositions, taking notes, etc.
- process and evaluate information from written and oral sources.
- enter into discussions and express/defend opinions.
Instructional Methods:
Small groups, teacher presentations, work stations, student centered activities.

Make-up Work Policy:
If a student misses a class due to illness he/she must contact the teacher as soon as the student returns to school. The student can contact the teacher by e-mail cordero@olgchs.org, in person or by phone ext.3345. The student must be aware that ignoring this policy can seriously affect his/her grade for that particular test, project, homework or quiz.
Classroom Procedures/Policies:
-The student has to be prepared, on dress code, and on time for every class.
-The student must respect his/her classmates, the teacher, substitute teachers, and the school’s physical property, including desks and chairs, technological equipment, walls and any display of art.
- The student must raise his/her hand every time he/she needs to talk and wait for the teacher’s prompt to speak.
- The student must not leave his/her seat unless the teacher tells him/her otherwise.
- The use of the Internet translation system is not allowed.
- The use of the target language is imperative.
