Homework Policy

Homework is given Monday-Thursday only.  No homework will be assigned on Fridays. Homework is checked daily.  Many assignments are collected and graded.  Therefore, it is imperative that students put 100% effort into completing the assignments. Too many students rush through the homework.  Students know in advance which assignments are graded and which will be "just checked." Please make sure your child is completing homework daily and it is correct.  You can use this time to assist them if needed (but please don't give them the answers).

Spelling

Spelling words are given on Monday.  Students take a pre-test and check the spelling of their words.  They use the newly edited list to study and complete homework.  Students are to complete a specific spelling assignment each day. See the schedule below. Spelling is a report card grade so please make sure your child is studying the words. If there is a four day school week spelling tests will be given on the following Monday.  If it is a three day week no spelling words will be given that week.

Monday-Write each word five times each

Tuesday- Write words in ABC order and complete worksheet

Wednesday-Write each word in a sentence (you may use more than one word in a sentence as long as it makes sense.)

Thursday-Study words (have someone give you a pre-test) and complete word search.

Graded Papers

About every one or two weeks graded papers are returned in yellow classwork folders.  There is a paper in the folder for parents to sign acknowledging receipt of the graded papers.  Students are to return the folder on MONDAY with ONLY the signature page.  All classwork papers can stay home.  Please make sure you sign the folder as a form of communication.
