FEBRUARY 2009

Ash Wednesday is Feb. 25th. Please join us for Mass at 10:15am if you can.

The 2nd marking period closes on February 27th and the report card goes home on March 13, 2009.

Please check your child's school supplies. Some of our students are coming without glue and scissors. Although we do not use them every day, it becomes a problem for them, if they do not have they supplies, to finsh an assignment when we do use them. Some need a new set of markers as well.

We have had many students out sick the past 2 weeks. We always collect work  for your child. You can have it sent home with another student, coe and pick it up, or if you cannot get it that day for some reason, it will be waiting for them upon their return.

Additionally, we are out of clorox wipes. We have been using these daily lately to cut down on germs. If you can, please send in another container of clorox wipes. We are getting low on kleenex too.

March began this week. This tends to be a long month sometimes which can become challenging for the students. But this year, we begin Daylight's Savings earlier on March 7th. Maybe this will help with the end of the winter blahs. While the students are off on March 18th, the teachers have a professional day.

We begin Standarized testing on Tuesday, March 24th. Please make sure your child has had a good breakfast and a good night's sleep. Please make every effort to have them here in school on time.

Our Spelling Bee will take place on March 19th. We will have a classroom "Bee" this week to determine who will go to the school wide "Bee". A packet of words to study was sent home a few weeks ago.

We have planned our last field trip for May 22 to The Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards. please save the date. We can only take a limited amount of parents. So if you went on the fall field trip, please refrain from volunteering for this trip. If we do not get enough chaperones, we will let you know and ask those who are available to come.

This trip takes us on a journey through Maryland's Sports history. We will also tour what I like to call "The Yard". The tour guides do a wonderful job of relaiting school studies to all the jobs that are required in a Major League ballpark to make things run smoothly.

In Religion, we continue our study of the Ten Commandments and how they apply to our daily life. We stress that our actions speak louder than words and using Jesus as our ultimate role model. During this season of Lent, we will be doing many activities in school and church. We will be going to Stations of the Cross and Penance. We will take a close look at Jesus’ life and examine our own. We are asking the children to be more forgiving and patient. Perhaps you will have time as a family to decide on your Lenten sacrifices or promises.

 Peace...

Mrs. Edmonston
