  FAQ

Q. What ever happened to the website where you could look at all the old yearbooks?

A. The only one I know of is www.BladensburgAlumni.com. You have to become a member ($$), but you get a certain amount of time free just for registering, then more time as incentives for contributions like photo uploads, having others register, etc."Full-access" subscriptions are about $20, $30, and $60 for a year, two, or a lifetime, respectively. Earn a lifetime subscription if you provide the scanned pages of the senior headshot section of a yearbook, but many are already uploaded. The BHS yearbooks I see missing are for years 46 - 61, 73, 78, and 81+ as of 9/2006. This site restricts certain behavior, like posting links and email addresses of any kind in its messaging section, even, I believe, for paid subscribers.

Q. How can I get a copy of a yearbook from years past?

A. The school does not order more yearbooks than are pre-sold to individuals, except, I have been told, for two which are archived. I seriously doubt that the publisher keeps any "back issues" or even the source material to reprint yearbooks.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Contact the yearbook archivist. As of 2007, I understand that this person at BHS is Marge Spirer (Margie.Spirer@pgcps.org). Perhaps arrange to visit the archive.
  • Try to find out who published your yearbook and contact the publisher about reprints.
  • Search the Web for yearbooks (or portions thereof) posted on-line (www.BladensburgAlumni.com), or yearbooks for sale (e.g., www.eBay.com).

Please let us know what you find.

The following is from the HIGH POINT ALUMNI NEWSLETTER - October 2007 by "Stacy I."

Yearbooks Available

High Point has extra yearbooks for the years 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2000, and 2003. If you would like purchase one, please contact the new yearbook advisor, Monica Welch, at <mailto:Monica.Welch@ pgcps.org>Monica.Welch@ pgcps.org or 301-572-6400.

If you are looking for a yearbook for a year not listed above, please post a message to the HP Alumni Chat email list (see info below.) Another way to search for yearbooks is to post a request to eBay's "Want It Now" (http://pages. ebay.com/ wantitnow) or setting up a search under "My Favorite Searches" so that eBay will let you know if one becomes available. You can also do this under Google Alerts (https://www. google.com/ alerts/signin? hl=en) to get regular email notifications about yearbooks offered anywhere on the web.

Anything else you want to know? Well, as Linda Ellerbee would say, "Ask!"
