Parent Information:

The physical education performance standards included in this report card are the minimal expectations for physical education upon exiting this grade level.  This reporting mechanism provides specific information as to where your child stands with the attainment of these expectations.

Pre-K Report Card Standards:

Bounce and catch a playground ball to self

Locates the heart on body

Kicks a stationary ball

Identifies and moves body parts

Participates in a simple game

Kindergarten Report Card Standards:

Performs an overhand throw using a flexed arm and hand at ear

Identifies activities and foods that are heart healthy

Dribbles a playground ball with dominant hand

Performs the following skills with a

Demonstrates safe use of space

First Grade Report Card Standards:

Demonstrates an overhand throw with opposition

Identifies the effects of exercise on the body

Performs the following skills with a mature pattern: 

Hop

Skip

Travels in sequence and rhythm during musical activity

Demonstrates control while dribbling a ball with feet

Second Grade Report Card Standards:

Catches an object thrown overhand

Identifies the health related fitness components

Dribbles with control using dominant and non-dominant hand

Performs three locomotor skills in a sequence

Describes and follows safety rules

Third grade Report Card Standards:

Perform a mature overhand throw for accuracy

Identify the FITT guidelines

Describe a balanced diet

Accurately complete a peer assessment to provide

feedback for skill improvement

Create and complete a three-part individual

movement sequence

Fourth Grade Report Card Standards:

Explain the importance of self-evaluation on

skill development

Match health related fitness components to activities that

develop each component

Accurately dribble and pass a ball while moving

Demonstrate locomotor movements with changes in

speed and direction

Demonstrate safe practices during activities

Fifth Grade Report Card Standards:

Demonstrate mature skills within a modified game

Complete a health related fitness assessment and

set appropriate goals based on results of assessment

Dribble, pass, and receive a ball while moving

 Create and demonstrate an original movement sequence

with a partner or small group

Demonstrate self control and safe practice during activity
