English 11 Honors
The eleventh grade honors course is a component in a study of genres which will develop a comprehensive base of experience and learning for those students who are planning to pursue college credit in twelfth grade Advanced Placement English class or for students who are seeking an academic or select-college advantage. This course extends and refines the skills developed in the tenth grade Advanced English. Students will apply strategies learned in the past and acquire more specific ones to meet the rigorous demands of Advanced Placement English and the culminating AP exam. Critical writing skills will be expanded to include analytical and explicatory essays, frequent timed essays, SAT preparation, and a research project. This program can lead to advanced freshman status in post high school study.
