    Welcome to the Seventh Grade Medieval World!

         This course will cover seven major units; Developing Interpretations of the Past, Complex Civilization of the Americas, Middle East, African Empires/Kingdoms, Byzantine Empire, Medieval Europe, and Asia during the Middle Ages. Students will develop an understanding of the different locations and times which contributed to the development of different cultures. Students will then discover how the different aspects of culture, including political, religious, economic and language skills have influences the decisions of people living in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas during the Middle Ages. Furthermore, students will explore how natural resources, human resources and capital resources along with human features and physical features influenced human activity and the decisions of a people. The curriculum also looks at how these decisions have influenced the development of current day culture. The curriculum focuses on developing the fundamental skills in reading, writing and organization as well as the complex thinking skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation. Students will be reading primary and secondary sources, interpreting and constructing time lines, charts, graphs, and maps; determining the cause and effect relationships; comparing and contrasting people, places, events, and/or ideas; problem-solving; decision-making; and issue analysis. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, this curriculum helps prepare students for their role in a democratic society.
